University Debate: Minister of Health Imer Selmani in front of the students
Tetova, 6 December-In the third broadcast of the cycle “University debate in the State University of Tetova’’, in front of the students was minister of health Imer Selmani who talked about many topics for the ministry that he is responsible.

Confronted with many questions from the auditorium of the amphitheatre of SUT, minister Selmani among other things presented the reforms that have been made in the field of health, problems occurred in hospitals, representation of Albanians in health department, investing in infrastructure and health equipment, and preparations and results achieved so far for the university clinic of SUT in Tetova. Asked to make a comment on accusations of some doctors that “with the reforms in health department the health system has been crippled”, Selmani answered that to cripple a system the same one should be perfect.

“We are based on the general evaluation that our health system has been damaged completely. Originating from the socialist system and continuing for a period of time with stagnation, and some bad changes that allowed penetration of corruption, nepotism and many harmful occurrences, we tried to put an order and discipline that is nothing spectacular but only a law enforcement” said Selmani. Further he presented all precautions in the process of the reforms, taken by ministry of health and Government Following he also spoke about the function of the new praxis applied in the primary medicine. Concerning the representation of Albanians in department of health, Selmani illustrated the actual picture with concrete ciphers for all the segments. ”Actually we have excellent situation in health administration, on the state level, with over 30% Albanian representatives, but the situation isn’t that good in hospitals where representation is only 8% percent.

This situation has occurred as a result of the situation we’ve inherited from the previous governmental structure, and we found the Tetova and Gostivar hospital with Albanian representation under 50%.We’ve taken precaution measures to improve this situation and beside employments that have been made so far, soon there will be announced a bid for employment of hundreds of Albanians in the clinics of public hospitals” said Selmani. In this direction, according to him a problem is also the lack of cadre, especially doctors and dentists. In the “fourth panel” of the debate present was also the Rector of SUT, Prof. Dr. Sadi Bexheti, who spoke about the preparations for the beginning of the Faculty of medical sciences in SUT.

“Faculty of medical sciences of SUT will function with four departments: medical department, dentistry, pharmacy and infirmary. All procedures for accreditation have been passed, we’ve found the teaching cadre and next year we will start. We are focused in quality, therefore we’ve decided to accept only small groups of students and that 40 in medicine and 20 in dentistry “said Rector Prof. Dr. Bexheti. In this debate, also spoke up the director of Hygiene Inspectorate, Dr. Zijadin Sela, manager of Tetova Hospital, Dr. Hasan Luma, and Prof. Dr. Nexhbedin Karimani, head of study program of Infirmary and experts from the health area.
