Role and importance of US President George W. Bush visiting Albania

 

In the last university debate organized by Macedonian TV, program in Albanian language in Thursday night (7.06.2007) were invited two known personalities from the Albanian politics: Mr. Arben Xhaferi , president of  Albanian Democratic Party and Mr. Sabri Godo, eminent politician. The subject of this debate was the visit of US President G.Bush in Alabania, role and importance of this visit regarding the situation in Kosova and in the entire region.

Mr. Arben Xhaferi claimed that Bush`s visit in Albania means coming of the history in Albania and is deserved visit because Albanians are very important in the region while the importance of Albanians started in 1981 with their demonstrations in Prishtina, and then because Albanians didn’t agree with Milloshevich they passed many difficulties in the war.

According to Mr.Xhaferi exterior politic of US is guided from the ideas, and intervention of US in Kosova is product of the ideals for freedom, for respecting humanism. Regarding the Russian words that Kosova is precedence, Mr. Xhaferi claims that Kosova is positive precedence because the justice won.

About the Russian veto, Mr.Xhaferi claims that this can happen only if Serbia wants to stay as a satellite in Balkan for preventing the integrative processes.
Regarding the last events in Macedonia, Mr Xhaferi said that motion against Macedonia can not have strategic results and it will not influent in the status for Kosova, and Albanian Democratic Party has an correct politic because it is approved in a democratic process while the other political parties are not.

Mr.Sabri Godo claimed that the visit of US President it's very important and this is as result of historical connection between Albanians and Americans. According to him US President's visit is good reason to be happy as it is showing very clearly that it will support Albania in the relation with neighbor countries.
Mr.Sabri Godo pointed out the historical relations between Albanians and Americans; in 1920 in that times US Presidents Wilson stopped the further partition of Albania, the help during the time when Zog was leading, he remembered the Rockefeller foundation for the liquidation of malaria in Albania, opening schools like the agrarian school, economic schools and now in the end helping Kosova in the war time.

Mr. Godo quoted the speech of Nicholas Burns in the senate about the situation of Kosova and in the end of his speech he said:….. even this Albanians are our friends. Godo concluded that Albanians are the most fellowship country for Americans and they have a support from their friends. About the possibility that Russia cab use veto in the United States Council, Mr.Godo claimed that this would bring complications for the region and independence of Kosova is unavoidable. In the debate many students and professors discussed too.
