UNIVERSITY DEBATE  on topic “Foundation of the Institute for cultural and spiritual heritage of Albanians in Macedonia

On Thursday, has begun the new round of university debates organized by State University of Tetova in co-operation with Macedonian Radio-television, the programme in Albanian. The first University debate of this round, was about a very actual and important topic: Foundation of Institute of cultural and spiritual heritage “Pjeter Bogdani” and activities Week of culture on the occasion of Albanian alphabet and the anniversary of Albanian State. Guests in this debate were Minister of education and science of Macedonia, Mr. Sulejman Rushiti, from the organizational council of the Institute, Government’s spokesman Mr. Veton Ibrahimi and Professor Fejzulla Shabani, and also the expert of linguistics Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani. Minister of education, Mr. Rushiti expressed that year 2007 is a special year.  

“The cultural life of Albanians is institutionalized for the first time. The institute of cultural and spiritual heritage was a dream of the Albanian scholars. The Institute will give an opportunity for linguists, Albanologists, historians, scientists from the country and the region” said minister Rushiti. For the question  how many sectors are functioning within this Institute, Mr. Rushiti replied:” The Institute is divided in several sectors: sector of language and literature, ethnology and ethnomusicology, history, migration, for reciprocal co-operation and old architecture.

”   According to him, the latest activities made by the Government and the corresponding ministries, for institutionalization of the holidays important for Albanians, foundation of Institution of heritage for conservation of cultural and spiritual values of Albanians of Macedonia, it’s not a daily policy but a strategy of strengthening of intellectual capacities.

The Minister also spoke about the achievements of SUT, about the rooms, the object in Gostivar, the latest donation of the Italian Government for the Lab of  Faculty of Food Technology, emphasizing that the University slowly is transforming from  educational center into a research center. Spokesman of the Government of Macedonia, Mr. Veton Ibrahimi, also a member of organizational council of founding the Institute of heritage, spoke about the importance of this Institute emphasizing that all these activities during this week and during November, are under the patronage of Government.

”The Day of the Albanian Alphabet is official holiday, taken care by the state institutions” said Mr.Ibrahimi. About the importance, function and activities in the future, spoke the expert of linguistics, Professor Fadil Sulejmani. “Tonight we are here to promote and celebrate our great successes, which one of them is the Institute.

Albanians have inherited a great cultural wealth, therefore we have to preserve this heritage, language identity, costumes, games, family ceremonies etc.” Professor Fejzulla Shabani, from the organizational council of foundation of the Institute, expressed that except the lingual character the Institute has also a historical character. He also made public the events that are to happen within the Week of Culture , organized by the State University of Tetova and supported by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture. Present in the debate were the Rector of SUT, professors, students and Albanian linguists and historians.
