Dear students, professors, administrators of the SUT, I would like to welcome you and to wish you great success in your work and also, the others that gave contributions and assisted in many different ways; the existence, functioning and to be officially recognized as a public higher education institution.

State University of Tetova is a higher education institution oriented mainly toward science, arts and as an autonomous body its missions is to educate and emancipate the population of the Republic of Macedonia and beyond.

The State University of Tetova was established in December 17 th , 1994 like an initiative of Albanian intellectuals in R. of Macedonia, political Albanian parties, and non-political associations and all the people dedicated to building an educational base in the country and outside of the country. A decade of existence and functioning of this education institution it is one of the grand eras of work and sacrifice and undertakings this university had to achieve it with success and to surpass and overcome all the challenges that were met along the way.

After a decade of work, the State University of Tetova and with the democratization of the country, the government of the R. of Macedonia initiated and took a stand to recognize this university and later with parliamentary procedures in February 22 nd , 2004, the Parliament of R. of Macedonia after a long debate voted and officially recognized the university. The act of official recognition of the State University of Tetova unambiguously it is a grand historic moment and holds great implication for this institution.

Tremendous contribution for the official recognition of the university likewise has given: the government, parliament, initiative commission for the establishment of the university as a public education institution in Tetova, the international community and all others who were dedicated to make it happen whom we are extremely grateful.

State University of Tetova is composed of four faculties and one Polytechnic study centre.

In this university total enrollment of students are 12 036 whom 10226 of the students are citizens of the R. of Macedonia while 1 100 are foreign students. Of the total number of students, 8229 are full-time while 1997 students attend lectures on a part-time base.

In this university a total number of students who have graduated are 940, whom 120 of them have already received a diploma while others are still undergoing procedures for the recognition of their diplomas.

The teaching staff of the university consists of; 270 lecturers whom 91 of them are full- time and 179 are employed part-time. The academic staff of this university has a spectrum of general educators, new assistants and full-time professors who are the highest caliber that the academic staff and intellectual staff possess.

The administration of the university is made up of 30 technical administrators in various field of work.

The teaching-scientific learning process is developed with contemporary methods of teaching. In this university it is applied the modern reform of higher education according to the credit transfer systems or ECT-system.

The obj ective of this institution, it is to attain the current trends of higher education and to j oin the European and World universities.

It is my wish that this University to be advanced in the future and to attain a modern and contemporary educational level.
